If you've ever heard of TED talks, a series of talks given around the world by activists, artists, investors, entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists, tech experts, inventors and many more people who are pushing the envelope and helping to improve the world in various ways, you might have heard of TEDx, which are TED-inspired talks independently organized by communities. This December 5, the great city of Toronto will host its first TEDx Women talk at the Arta Gallery in the historic Distillery District.
TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen is currently calling for applications from speakers (designers, leaders, thinkers, problem-solvers). Applications are due by October 15. Details are available on the TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen website.
I urge women filmmakers and women in media to get involved and apply to be a speaker!
Any person who makes a film and works to market and distribute it is an entrepreneur, and you are more tuned in to technological changes if you're involved in transmedia or multimedia platforms for your work. Whether you have something to say about crowdfunding, distribution models, marketing, creating space and more opportunities for women artists, technological innovations affecting film and other media, media policy, or anything related, you should GET INVOLVED!
